Congratulations to Tim Smith for his wicked win at the Warrenpoint Open on Sunday 11 Sep 2016. He rolled back the years to defeat two younger foes in both the semis and final to prove when at his peak fitness he is still the man to beat in the Mournes area. In the semi he defeated Ardghail McMahon 4 and 4 and then a smashing hard fought win over Newry Open runner up 2015 Tom Harty 7-6 7-5. So what could be described as the TimTom final for short was won by a Newry man.

Giby Vettiankal won the Mixed Doubles with June McEvoy in an all Newry final as they beat Tim Smith and Derval Campbell 6-1 64. Well done to all.

And sucess also to Mal McAteer who won the Mixed Plate with Ellie Murdock in a very tough 7-5 final set.
